A Day in the Life of an RDO Service Technician Apprentice

The first time Sutton C. learned about RDO Equipment Co. was in a classroom setting, when an RDO team member came to speak to his class about the Access Your Future (AYF) internship program.

The thing is, through his schooling, Sutton had only learned about semi-trucks. Construction equipment was foreign to him, but he was curious. Although Sutton’s knowledge was limited, he found it to be exciting and wanted to learn more.

Now, Sutton spends his days learning the ropes of heavy equipment as a service technician apprentice. But those days are never the same.

“I come in and work on a new machine every day. It’s always a different project. I feel like I learn at least 20 new things a day,” he explains.

Sutton credits the team of resident technicians for his growth with the company. Whether they sit down and explain certain processes to him or let him take the reins on a job and run, he knows the team trusts him, and he trusts them to help him learn and grow.
