What’s Happening in RDO Equipment Co.’s Texas Construction Region

16 Dec 2019 Read time: 3 min

From the farms and ranches in western Montana to waste and recycling operations in California, RDO Equipment Co. does business in numerous regions, cities, and communities, and with several types of customers. Depending on the time of year, there’s a lot going on – and it might not be what most would expect.

Here’s a special look at RDO Equipment Co.’s Texas Construction region with the region’s Vice President, Cory Kosse. Read on to learn more about construction in this area and some exciting plans for 2020.

Watch to learn more about RDO in Texas and a few highlights from 2019 with Fort Worth General Manager, Matt Daniell, and Fleet and Remarketing Vice President, Dennis Howard.

The Region Overview
The Texas Construction region includes seven stores:
Austin, Fort Worth, Irving, Laredo, McKinney, San Antonio, and Waco

What’s Unique About the Area

“Certainly things slow down a bit for the holidays and hunting season but we don’t see big ebbs and flows in the amount of work we and our customers do throughout the year,” Cory said.

What’s Going on For Customers This Time of Year
Texas is growing – and growing fast. According to Cory, “People are moving to Texas every day so this creates opportunity for infrastructure work.”

From new homes to hotels and retail stores, and a lot of work going on up and down the I-35 corridor, construction companies are busy doing a variety of projects.

The energy sector is another area that’s big in Texas and, although it slowed down a bit in 2019, there’s optimism it will return strong in 2020 and RDO teams across all stores are poised to support these customers.

What’s Coming for RDO’s Texas Stores in 2020
Just as the population and infrastructure is on the grow in Texas, so too is RDO’s investment in its customers and its stores throughout the state.

The Austin store is nearly finished on a remodel project that expanded the store and added four service bays to the shop. The remodel also added a Clear-Blu wash system, an environmentally-friendly water recycling system that works by filtering the water used for washing equipment, allowing it to be reused continuously.

Another expansion currently in progress that will continue into next year is an extension of space in the Fort Worth store’s yard, which will allow more room for equipment storage and a larger equipment demo area.

Cory also shared a significant build and remodel slated for 2020 – the Irving store.

“An existing building next to the Irving store is being demoed and a new space will be built for a large service shop, parts warehouse, and office space,” he said.

While there will be a new building, the existing store is staying and will be reconfigured to create more space for sales, parts, and service of Deere compact construction equipment, as well as rental return and service.

Finally, late in 2020, RDO is adding an eighth location in Texas, with a new store planned in Buda, an area where Cory says the team is excited to build new relationships and develop a strong business.

What’s One Thing That Makes the Region Special
It’s probably no surprise to anyone who’s familiar with RDO that people come first – so equally not surprising that Cory credits the Texas team as a major reason for the region’s success and growth.

“We’re proud of this Texas team,” he said. “There’s tremendous strength across the entire group of admin, parts, sales, and service team members.”

He also pointed out his leadership team and its boots-on-the-ground style that serves customers across the state as one, cohesive unit.

“Our General Manager group is tight-knit and works together across all seven locations,” he said. “We also believe in our management team being customer-facing, so they’re out there all the time with customers, on their jobsites, where they’re working, making sure they understand their challenges and the opportunities we have as their partner.”
