Three Service Technicians at RDO Equipment Co. – Indio recently achieved Gold Service Technician certification from John Deere. The achievement is a testament to the team members’ skills and knowledge and recognition of their dedication to keeping RDO customers up and running.
For Damian Torres, Jesus Nava-Moya, and Antonio Moreno, the Gold status is the culmination of hard work and diligence with support from the team around them. Store Manager Val Mendivil says the certification itself is a year in the making, and the result of an effort to be more intentional with the training opportunities available to Service Technicians.
“About a year ago, we set out on a journey of improvement and growing together,” Val said. “Part of that involved our Service Managers working to help map out career paths for each of our Service Technicians. And so far, Damian, Jesus, and Antonio are the first to go the extra mile and become Gold technicians.”
Two training paths offered by Deere, Silver and Gold certification, involve the completion of a set of position-specific coursework. The Gold certification requires added layers of holistic learning about the business and industry with general topics like customer service, selling, and marketing, and more specific topics like Deere programs, special tools training, and agronomic and customer information.
“This approach teaches not only technical skills but also offers an understanding of sales, customer interactions, and more,” Val summarized.
The results of the team’s training initiative are showing in their work. Val says metrics like customer satisfaction and service revenue have positively reflected the training. Even more than that, the Gold status is well-deserved recognition for the dedication each team member displays.
“Damian has been here for nine years, and this kind of recognition for his leadership and hard work was long overdue. Jesus and Antonio have both been here for about three years, and they’re both up-and-coming Service Technicians, committed to learning and providing excellent service. This recognition is proof that their hard work, and that of everyone on the team, has real results.”
