Sacramento Team Makes Special Delivery for Local Family

The RDO Equipment Co. team in Sacramento, CA, recently partnered with a customer to bring comfort to a local family in the form of a bed and bedding supplies.

The team’s involvement was part of Project: My Own Bed, a community service initiative through the North State Building Industry Foundation. The mission of the initiative is to provide children’s beds and bedding to families in need.

LaVor Steenblik, Store Manager, said the RDO team was contacted by customer Nick Winn of Winsol Groundworks about partnering for the project. There was no hesitation from the RDO team.

LaVor was joined by Service Administrator Rosemary Rodarte, Service Technicians Todd Spencer and Jacob Speakman, and Parts Specialist Richie Todd. Together, the group delivered bedding supplies to the home of a family just down the road from the Sacramento store. The in-person connection with the recipients, a mother and her daughter, had a special impact on the volunteers.

“It’s a little different than donating money, where you don’t always see the end result,” LaVor said. “In this instance, to be able to see the difference it makes in someone’s life – a family just blocks from the store, too – is impactful. It tugs at the heartstrings.”

LaVor said it was the team’s first time getting involved with Project: My Own Bed, but that after seeing the impact and hearing the appreciation and gratitude of the mother they met, it likely will not be their last.
