Team members, customers, community members, and more gathered at the Billings RDO Equipment Co. store in early December to support children and their families affected by cancer.
The first RDO Cares Holiday Benefit saw roughly 100 attendees and featured a meal and more than 20 items up for bid in live and silent auctions. Product Manager Tom Potter said the event was a hit, especially considering it was the first the team had put together.
“It was a really great night, and it was extremely successful based on what we set out to do,” he commented.
Though official results had not yet been confirmed, Tom said the total is expected to exceed the $15,000 goal the team challenged itself to raise, and he credits a whole team effort for making it happen.
“The team here in Billings focuses on a variety of different things on a daily basis,” he commented. “But it was great to see everybody across the board come together and chip in, whether they were donating items or inviting others and spreading the word, or even just attending the event and being a part of it.”
Two Billings team members and their families are currently enduring the battle with childhood cancer, and for the rest of the team, the event was a way to show support. Proceeds will go to the families and KOA Care Camps, a nonprofit organization providing children living with cancer opportunities to attend specialized summer camps.
RDO Equipment Co. is committed to making an impact in our communities. The theme of the night was the inspirational strength and positivity displayed by the children battling cancer, and between that and the way the team and community responded, Tom said they’re already thinking about what to do next.
“It definitely sparked something for us.”
The team is currently in the process of forming an advisory board to further develop the RDO Cares program and oversee future events.
